There's much to know about health insurance. So, take your time, look around. If you have questions, drop us a line.
Aetna is one of my "Big Three" when it comes to Medicare, and they offer HMO and PPO Medicare Advantage plans. They are also active in the subsidized market on Nevada Healthlink offering subsidized Affordable Care Act plans to the under-65 crowd.
The second of my Big Three, United Healthcare is probably the most well-known Medicare carrier across the country. For the under-65 crowd, their sister companies Healthplan of Nevada and Sierra Health & LIfe offer both on and off exchange options for health insurance.
Third of the Big Three. Humana offers Medicare Advantage HMO and PPO plans across the US. They do not offer subsidized plans on the Exchange however.
The only 5 Star Medicare Advantage plan in Nevada, which is a big deal proving superior overall customer satisfaction within our market. Because of their 5 Star rating, clients are able to enroll in this plan any time during the year; not just once a year during the Annual Enrollment Period.
They are a California based plan that has recently moved into the Nevada market. They are in 5 states and 22 counties with over 300,000 members. In their home state they are known for excellent customer service with a 4.5 Star rating for the last 6 years.
Another relative newcomer to Nevada, they continue to expand their market with more doctor networks and benefits.
For whatever reason, I don't have a lot of clients enrolled in their plans. They have been in and out of Nevada over the last 10 years, which may have some bearing on that. Personally, I like companies with consistency.
HPN is the sister to United Healthcare, being all part of the same company. They have a big presence on the health insurance exchange offering subsidized HMO plans to Southern Nevada.
Ambetter is the largest insurer in the country providing individual health insurance plans to the under-65 crowd. In Nevada they offer subsidized HMO plans through the health insurance exchange.
SHL is another sister to United Healthcare. They offer off-exchange, non-subsidized plans to individuals and families when the household income is too high to qualify for a subsidy.
